Join us for a FREE Movie Night Saturday, April 15th in the Family Life Center!  We will be showing Minions: The Rise of Gru!  Invite your friends and family, and we hope to see you there!

Celebrate Easter at JUMC on Sunday, April 9, 2023

Hello Johnson Family & Friends! We are looking forward to experiencing Holy Week

and celebrating Easter (Resurrection Sunday) with each of you and your families!

 

Each evening of worship is such a special time. We invite you to mark your

calendars, come, and experience afresh Jesus’ grace and love.

Maundy Thursday 7:00 PM: We will gather for a time of worship and reflection in the Worship Center.

Good Friday 7:00 PM: We will gather for a time of worship and reflection in the Worship Center.

Easter Morning/Resurrection Sunrise Service 8:00 AM (Outdoor Chapel) Come to this early morning

service located in Johnson’s Outdoor Chapel.

It has a way of fixing our eyes on Jesus’ Resurrection in a special way, to be in the Outdoor Chapel.

Easter Morning/Resurrection Sunday Celebration Service 10:00 AM We will gather in the Worship

Center to sing praises, express our joy, and celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus!

Easter Baskets

This year we will be making and donating over 200 Easter Baskets. The money we have

received from the Easter Basket 2nd Mile offerings will go towards candy and bags. We are

accepting donations to complete the baskets.

The Tuesday Small Group meets from 5:45 to 6:45 pm in the yellow room (by the offices).

Our group gets together at Sweet Henry's at 4:15 for dinner and fellowship, then meets at the

Pies ordered from this sale can be picked

up at Johnson UMC from 3:00 - 6:00 PM on Friday, April 7.

Sunday Small Group

Join our new Sunday Small Group. This group meets after worship on the First and Third Sundays of the month, after the 10:00 am service. For more information, please call the office.

SECOND MILE OFFERING

Each week we take a second offering, The 2nd Mile offering, which is an offering

above and beyond your usual giving that goes to a select cause each week.

Easter Tulips

We are selling tulips to decorate the church altar for Easter Service. The tulips are

$7.99 and will come in a variety of pastel colors. Order forms are available on the

Welcome Center. You can pick up your plant after Easter Service. Please turn your

order forms in by April 2nd

The Worship Committee Needs Volunteers to Decorate for the Easter Holiday

Saturday, April 8th at 9:00 am, we will decorate for Easter.

No Second Sunday Breakfast in April:

We will NOT have Second Sunday Breakfast in April. Since April's second Sunday, April 9th

falls on Easter, we will instead provide a smaller assortment of donuts, bagels and fruit

so that breakfast workers can attend the Easter worship of their choosing.

ZUMBA CLASSES

Classes will be in the FLC on Mondays from 6-6:45 pm. Cost is $6 per class. No early registration is required, just come to class! Hope to see you there!

Save Your Pull Tabs

The JUMC Youth Group is collecting aluminum pull-tabs for the Akron area Ronald McDonald House Charities. The tabs are recycled and the money goes to help families that stay at RMHC NEO. Our goal is to collect 1,000,000 tabs from beverage cans, food cans, and pet food cans. Please leave your tabs at the welcome desk.

JUMC Rummage Sale

• Friday April 21 from 10am-3pm

• Saturday April 22 from 9am-3pm

The sale will be in the Family Life Center, 3409 Johnson Rd. Norton 44203

We need donations of items from our church family and those in the community.

We need shopping bags and boxes for customers.

Donations of clothing, furniture, household goods, yard items,

sporting goods, etc. in good/working condition will be accepted on:

• Tuesday April 18 from 12-3pm

• Wednesday April 19 from 6-7:30pm

• Thursday April 20 from 10am-2pm

• Or by appointment: 330-591-1651

This sale is a fundraiser for our Youth Mission trip. We will be traveling to Eastern Kentucky to help rebuild in areas hit hard by last year’s devastating floods. Volunteers will be needed before the sale to set up tables, accept donations, help during sale by assisting customers and accepting monetary donations, and help after to put away tables and clean up.

Disc Golf Putting League

Disc Golf Putting League in the FLC on Tuesdays 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM through 3/28/23.  Cost is $5 a week.  Contact Carl Peterson for more information.

Lenten Study

Our Lent and Easter devotional this year is titled " New Life Rising".

It explores how our lives are changed by Good Friday and Easter. It is a ten-part study

which can be used by individuals, families and small groups. Cost is $5 per book

and they are available at the welcome desk.

Helpful Information

We have in person and streamed services on Sundays at 10:00 am.
During the service, Childcare is available for your infant and toddlers. We also
have Sunday School for pre-school and elementary children. Jr High and High
Schoolers meet on Wednesday nights.

WHAT IS BACM?

You may have seen BACM on 2nd Mile offerings and BAGS of

LOVE collections, but do you know what BACM is?

BACM stands for Barberton Area Community Ministries.

Their Mission is to extend household resources in communities though

programs targeting food insecurities and basic needs. With donations,

fundraisers and many volunteers, they stock a drive thru food pantry

that distributes food to residents of Barberton, Norton, New Franklin,

Doylestown & Clinton.

WHAT IS UMCOR

As the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist

Church, the United Methodist Committee on Relief - UMCOR - assists United

Methodists and churches to become involved globally in direct ministry to persons in need.

UMCOR comes alongside those who suffer from natural or human-caused disasters -

famine, hurricane, war, flood, fire or other events- to alleviate suffering and serve as a

source of help and hope for the vulnerable. UMCOR provides relief, response and long-term

recovery grants when events overwhelm a community's ability to recover on their own.

UMCOR also provides technical support and training for partners to address emerging and

ongoing issues related to disaster relief, recovery, and long-term health and development.

WHAT IS HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Habitat for Humanity partners with people in your community and all over the world,

to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help

build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With our

support, Habitat home owners achieve the strength, stability and independence they

need to build a better life for themselves and their families.
